Wain Mobile Application Supported More than 84,000 Users in 1st Stage of World Football Tournament

Since releasing the new version of Wain Application customized to support the World Football Championship, the Wain user base has expanded significantly, indicating that the local app became a reliable choice for fans and residents alike during this football event. Wain has established itself as the leading local navigation services application providing immense value to its users through newly introduced key features.

Some of the key usage highlights for Wain in the first phase of the tournament (Nov.20th – Dec. 2nd) includes:

  • More than 84,000 active users of Wain
  • Number of daily downloads increased by a factor of 30 times
  • November 28th was the most active day by Wain users
  • The new stadiums microapp was the most used feature by Wain users: Lusail Stadium was the most viewed with over 23% of views, followed by Al Bayt Stadium (20%) and Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium (13%)

As the leading local mobile navigation services application in Qatar, Wain introduced many key features which proved to be quite popular with local users and visitors as it helped them reach different stadia and consume rich localized content. These key features include:

  1. Provide real time info about parking availability at main parking lots of all 8 stadia and 3 main park and ride locations
  2. Smart navigation capabilities to provide best routes to reach parking based on the ticket type and taking into account road closure and parking availability info
  3. Stadium Parking Assistant feature whereby Wain automatically stores where the car is parked and guiding the user to reach their car after the game by using Augmented Reality for iOS users and by using a map display for Android users.
  4. Rich personalized content and event info based on user preferences with hundreds of events included
  5. Ability to deliver personalized notifications based on user preferences and/or location

Wain is expected to continue its efforts to ensure the success of this historic event in Qatar, and hopefully other major events in the upcoming years, establishing itself as the local reliable choice for all users.
