QMIC Participated in the ASPIRE4SPORT Exhibition and Showcases its Innovations

Doha, November 13, 2012: the Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC) is participating in the ASPIRE4SPORT Exhibition being held in Aspire Zone in Doha between November 12th and November 15, 2012. ASPIRE4SPORT 2012 is the third annual edition of the landmark Sports Expo & Congress, allowing sports institutions to connect with business entities in Qatar and the region. This year the conference and exhibition will be focusing on stadium development, the latest discoveries in sports science & medicine and integrating technology in sports.

QMIC plays a significant role in this exhibition as a representative of smart sports solutions. QMIC’s R&D teams are developing innovative solutions that will help in advancing the cause of sports in Qatar and benefit sports institutions in their productivity and development. Some of the innovative applications and services that QMIC can offer include crowd management solutions (using RFID and Bluetooth technologies), intelligent transportation systems for sports fleet management, dispatching, navigation and traveller info, vehicle tracking, environmental air quality monitoring . All of these services, as well as all of QMIC’s innovations are locally-built, optimized for the Gulf region and are also customizable for each individual entity.

Earlier this year, QMIC proudly signed a partnership agreement with Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) to collaborate on mobility innovations for smart sports solutions. This partnership was a great achievement, as it has been one of QMIC’s goals to engage local entities in the cycle of innovations’ development and delivery. As part of this partnership, AZF and QMIC will collaborate on the use of QMIC’s locally-developed Intelligent Transportation & Logistics Services (Masarak™) and the Air Quality Monitoring Solution (Hawa’ak™) in the areas of events management, AZF and QMIC will also collaborate on creating sports innovations.

In this event, QMIC will be showcasing the latest innovations; namely, Masarak and Hawa’ak, as well as the latest progress on the development of the Connected Cars technology which will be vital for increasing road and traffic safety. Masarak is a suite of intelligent transport & road safety & logistics services which utilize real and historic traffic information. Hawa’ak is a rich and flexible platform that utilizes a new generation of lower cost  monitoring stations and provides ubiquitous coverage to support realtime and historic monitoring of air quality and other environmental conditions. Both of these ready-to-commercialize innovations are extremely useful tools in the sports industry that will increase safety, enhance the user/visitor experience and overall productivity..

Dr. Adnan, Executive Director of QMIC said, “We are delighted to participate in such an important event in the sport industry. This exhibition repersents an excellent platform to demonstrate the relevance and applicability of our intelligent innovations to the sports community. It’s also an opportunity for us to learn about the different sports organizations, their activities  and priorities”.

One of QMIC’s vital goals is to help grow the digital sports industry in Qatar, as 2022 is approaching. Working with local and regional sports entities will help QMIC succeed further in this area as well as  benefiting these institutions through using locally-built intelligent solutions that are tailored for this region’s weather, population and logistics.
