New Significant Capabilities to Enhance Wain and Support Visitors and Residents of Qatar

June 15, 2022

To enhance the positioning of Wain as the leading local mobile platform for delivering location-based services in Qatar, QMIC is introducing a number of capabilities to provide richer and more personalized content to Wain users. QMIC will also introduce innovative tools to allow authorized partners, in the next few weeks, to automatically update Wain’s content and communicate with Wain users. These capabilities will appeal alike to residents and visitors especially as Qatar is hosting a major sports event later in 2022, therefore being able to update the map with ease is becoming the utmost priority to Wain.

One of the recently introduced features, is a new microapp which allows businesses to easily add their location and information to Wain’s rich bank of points of interest. Business owners can access this section from the main Wain screen and fill out a short form detailing their business’s basic information. Once the request is submitted and approved, the business will then be visible and accessible through the dynamic map for thousands of Wain users in Qatar to navigate. This feature allows local business owners to establish a connection to Wain, and aid in the discovery of new locations that may be of interest to Wain’s userbase.

Another mico-app that has been recently added to Wain is focused on providing information about metro lines and stations in Qatar. With this, users can search and navigate the dynamic map for the closets stations and additional details regarding their trip. New content about Tram stations will be added in the next few weeks.

In addition, QMIC is finalizing a development of a new system to give authorized partners, such as enterprises and government entities, a very flexible method of adding their content such as points of interest, events, push notifications, alerts, and more. Furthermore, the system will allow trusted partners to quickly manage road closures in Wain to optimize the mobility of people, especially during major events or planned road work.  Additionally, the system will allow trusted partners to deliver location-based alerts to Wain users, which can be extremely helpful to push certain alerts in defined locations, under certain conditions, and during specific times as defined by the trused partner. Once these trusted strategic partners can utilize the new system, more trusted, enriched, and unique content will be available to users.

Mr. Omar Al-Jaber, Director of Strategic Partnerships and Outreach at QMIC said, “all these efforts by QMIC are made to ensure that users can find rich valuable content from highly trusted sources on Wain. This comes in support of QMIC’s overall strategy to make Wain the leading national trusted platform for location-based content and notifications in Qatar. These practices can build trust between Wain and the stakeholders, using it as an effective communication tool with the public. On the other hand, users can rely on Wain to always have the most valid and trusted content”.
