The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) Adopts QMIC’s HAWA’AK™ Solution

Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC) and the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) – the organization in charge of delivering the proposed host venues ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ – have signed a contract to adopt innovative Air Quality Monitoring System (Hawa’ak™) from QMIC. The ceremony, attended by senior representatives from both parties – was held at the SC’s headquarters in Al Bidda Tower.

Hawa’ak is an air quality monitoring system that utilizes a rich Internet of Things (IoT) platform, fully developed by QMIC to support real-time monitoring of air quality, weather & climate, and other environmental conditions, allowing users to access this information via multiple channels including mobile delivery, and web portals. Hawa’ak takes advantage of a new generation of mobile sensor stations that can be distributed to wider areas, allowing the delivery of localized and personalized air quality information. This information contributes to building a rich bank of data and is driving the creation of new services and applications optimized for enterprises, government agencies, and consumers.

Partnering with local R&D centers like QMIC introduces innovative solutions made in Qatar; which SC has done to help leave a legacy behind, through their partnership on Hawa’ak.

Yasir Al Jamal, Acting Assistant Secretary General for Delivery Affairs Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy said, “We are very pleased to have selected the Hawa’ak system from QMIC, to furnish our stadiums with weather & air quality monitoring stations. We believe that carefully monitoring environment and air quality conditions is a critical part of building and maintaining proposed host venues for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Of equal importance, we believe that utilizing innovative technologies and systems that are developed in Qatar will help in creating sustainable new industries, which support our strategy of creating a legacy in the country.”

Dr. Adnan Abu-Dayya, Executive Director (CEO) of QMIC said, “We would like to thank the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy for putting their trust in us. Hawa’ak is a new breed of intelligent systems developed by QMIC for delivering localized air quality and detailed weather information utilizing a new generation of mobile stations. All along, QMIC has focused on developing and deploying intelligent systems and services to support the needs of important market segments in Qatar including environment, transportation, and road safety. Our strategic partnership with SC will help us scale up our plans and achieve our goals faster in the field of environment.”

The collected, processed, and refined weather and air quality information will be accessible to SC and its subsidiaries/contractors through multiple channels such as web portals, mobile applications, hard copy reports, and alerts among others.
