QMIC to Reveal its Digital Innovations Strategy for Road Safety “RoadMap to Zero” at the 24th World ITMA Congress

November 15, 2015: Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC) will be revealing the details of its “RoadMap to Zero” Digital Innovations Strategy for Road Safety during the 24th World ITMA Congress to be held at Sheraton Doha. The congress will be hosted by the National Traffic Safety Committee from the 16th to the 18th of November 2015. QMIC’s participation in the event will be focused on introducing and demonstrating its latest locally built innovations for Road Safety.

In support of Qatar’s national Road Safety strategy, QMIC will be announcing its digital innovations strategy for Road Safety, and presenting its current and future solutions towards developing an ecosystem of innovations that cohesively serve the cause of reducing road crash fatalities in the country. QMIC will display a Roadmap offering diverse solutions for different user segments and that tackle different causes of road accidents. These solutions, once fully implemented and utilized, can make a significant contribution towards reducing or eliminating road accidents and associated fatalities. .

During the three-day event, QMIC plans to announce a number of new solutions and partnerships that have been established to improve the country’s Road Safety in a faster and smarter way. One of the areas QMIC has focused on is providing a convenient method of reporting accidents to relevant authorities with the exact location on the map, to help expedite emergency response time. QMIC will announce a partnership with the Directorate of Traffic at the Ministry of Interior (MOI) to introduce this new feature as an integral part of the existing iTraffic mobile solution. QMIC will also be holding a joint press conference with Qatar Insurance Company (QIC) to present smart innovative Road Safety solutions that can offer insurance incentices   for both the consumer and the enterprise segments.

During the second day of the event, Dr. Adnan Abu-Dayya, Executive Director of QMIC (CEO), will be speaking about “An integrated data-centric innovations strategy for tackling Road Safety in Qatar”. Shortly after, QMIC will be holding a workshop discussing local innovations for Road Safety, and elaborating more on the impact these innovations will have, long term. Audience will have a clear picture about the effects of Distracted Driving due to mobile phone and how to best eliminate such behavior behind the wheel, with the latest technologies. Another key topic that will be discussed is Connected Vehicles, which introduces the concept of seamless communication between vehicles and infrastructure; a solution that can mitigate up to 80% of road crashes once fully implemented.

QMIC will be showcasing their solutions and offering live demonstration during the ITMA exhibition from November 16 – 18, 2015, at Sheraton Doha.
